Bone-Appetite!!!!

Believe it or not, we have never had a Halloween themed FEAST. So here goes...

Make anything that you think might inspire fright in others. Only two rules for this FEAST: It has to be 'spooky' (NOT cute) and it has to taste good (no fried crickets please). We'll have main courses to satisfy the Draculas and Bunniculas among us. Costumes are welcome but not required. Trick or treat bags will be provided so skip the tooth rotting candy - it's already here!

Festivity details....

Remember the Islands - August 2008

I can't believe it is nearly the end of summer. Where did it go? In one last ditch effort to pretend that I am still on vacation we will be celebrating August FEAST with an evening in the Caribbean. Bring your favorites from the islands.
7PM on Thursday, August 28.
Casa Farmer/Martin. 331 15th Street #2.

Defining Food Moment

Apartment Therapy--The Kitchn had a post today about defining food moments in your life as a cook. Do you have one? I sometimes think about this--when did I become a cook? I think it was my senior year of college when I had my first apartment and my first cookbook and making food for friends became an important part of my social life. Making Thanksgiving dinner for 16 people that first year nearly sent me over the edge, but....it turned out....and it tasted good. What about you?

Compost FEAST

Dinner!

In honor of Earth Day and all things green, this month's theme is Compost FEAST. All those food bits you would normally throw out are now the main course (or side dish or appetizer...). If this doesn't sound so appetizing, think of some of the good stuff that gets pitched: orange peel, pumpkin seeds, coffee grounds, beet greens, chicken livers, those random egg yolks from that cake you made (custard anyone?). Get creative and be brave. Think like a worm- there are some tasty treats in that garbage can!

DATE & TIME: April 27 @ 6:30 PM.
LOCATION: 81 Sterling Place - Barber Pad

Post your recipes in the comments!

March 16th--the day between the fear of doom and the fun of debauchery....we'll be getting our eats on. Can't wait to see what you bring!

Not only was the dinner in a mansion, but there was enough food for the neighborhood. Click here for more photos.

Fit for a (Martin Luther) King (Jr.)

Alright, FEAST folks, as promised (though a little late), here is the announcement for the JANUARY 2008 inaugural FEAST of the year.

Inspired by the holiday, (and egged on by the recent Gourment issue), let's try our hands at a SOUTHERN feast fit for a (Martin Luther) King (Jr.)

Let's celebrate the man and his message by throwing down home style.

Monday, January 21 (MLK Jr. day), The Clue House, 7pm
927 President St btw PPW and 8th ave
(there may be billiards as well)

If this feast date is a real problem for folks, let me know and i can change the date/theme as needed.

Hope to see you all there! If you're coming, post some internet clues as to your contribution here if you can.

Granny Glam Christmas

December's theme: Granny Glam Christmas

If you are struggling to think of ideas that fit this theme, there is a website called The Food Timeline that helped me come up with a bunch of ideas. It's not fancy, but it is comprehensive.

Silver Screen Supper - Rachel's Clip

Don't worry FEASTERS, I'm not going to make liver. Instead, I'm opting for some fava bean-related dish and chianti.

Silver Screen Supper - Clips!

After you are finished racking your brains for your favorite movie meal, post a clip from the movie were the food takes center stage!

(How to: Go to Youtube. Select the YouTube Video you wish to add to your blog.
Look for the box directly to the right of the video. You will see
embedded code. Copy the embedded code to the video. Log into your
Blogger account and compose a new post. Click on html in your post and
paste the code in you copied from YouTube. It is important you have
the HTML tab selected and are not in compose mode. You may need to
change the height and width of the video. Save the changes & enjoy
your video.)

Julie's Dish - I looked around for komodo dragon steaks, but they are hard to come by, but I found inspiration in the magic of Disney. I hope your eyes sparkle like Lady's after you taste my meatballs. (Sorry for the crappy quality of this clip - it's all i could find).

Anna's Corner

We always lament when Anna isn't around to do the dishes at a FEAST meal. At the Farmer/Martin apartment (it really does sound like we are life partners), Anna is now equipped with a special sponge holder and scrubby brush. She is happy.

As a new feature on the FEAST blog, look for Anna's updates in the world of doing dishes.

Say What Now?

So I just checked the evite for tonight's FEAST and noticed a small little notation where McGrew changed his RSVP. What's this, now?
Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz decided to take over my apt. Ugh. Sorry to have to once again miss FEAST, but this morning we got offered $500 to let a film crew into our apt for the Diaz/Kutcher film tomorrow. Both roomies are out of town which puts me out of (pot)luck. My apologies, everyone. Have a great time...

I mean, I've heard excuses before, but seriously...

AND...why aren't we having a picnic in front of John's house?
